“I knew my daughter would be a doctor; when she was eight years old, she asked me to buy her some old books on medicine at a garage sale,” says Dr. Spencer’s mother.
Dr. Paula Spencer, a native of Michigan, moved to Oregon at age 10. After high school she moved to San Francisco where she became an Executive Secretary at Royal Viking Cruise Lines. Reorganizing her career options, she returned to school and completed undergraduate studies at University of California Hayward- enrolling in Pre-Med studies.
In 1990 she completed her undergraduate degree and moved to Kansas City, Missouri to start medical school. After completing medical school at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, College of Osteopathic Medicine it was back to Oregon, her family now numbering three.
Dr. Spencer chose Family Medicine and was named Chief Resident at Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland, Oregon. After residency Dr. Spencer accepted a position as Partner in a well-established clinic in Portland where she practiced for seventeen years. In 2016 Dr. Spencer began practicing in Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley and has recently accepted a position with Praxis as a charter Physician in their new Salem Medical Clinic.
Dr. Spencer likes to see every member of your family from new baby wellness to parents and parents of parents. “Helping my patients establish a healthy lifestyle for disease prevention is my goal”.
Dr. Spencer enjoys getting outdoors with her husband and high school sweetheart, Edward, exploring all that Oregon and our great country has to offer. Spur of the moment road trips, camping and fishing; visiting family and quilting. Come on in and get to know your new doctor.
